Hi I am Ankush Chopra. We are living in the age of disruption where more businesses are facing disruptive threats more often than in the past. It seems the tectonic plates of every industry are shifting, leaving business after business craving for a foothold. This is why every business leaders is afraid of getting disrupted.  But you can develop an antidote by mastering the art of managing disruption. Lets find out how?

Three Challenges in Managing Disruption

Firms find it very hard to manage disruption for three reasons.

You know you get better at what you do repeatedly. This is how companies become good at what they do in the market.  But firms have rarely faced disruptive challenges of the magnitude they face today. As a result, they have little experience in this domain. So they are no good at it.

Secondly, managing disruption requires you to have strong strategic skills. You have to be able to see how your industry’s tectonic plates are moving inexorably. Since strategic thinking skills are at a premium in any company, many businesses fail to see this threat early on.

And thirdly, this is not something that managers are taught in business schools. As a business school professor I often wish more schools start teaching disruption as an art.

Disruption is a Really Big Issue Today

As a result, neither new nor experienced managers have the know how to manage disruptive challenges.  No doubt firm after firm is struggling with it.

Look at how Blackberry responded to the iPhone or look at how Gillette has so far responded to Dollar Shave club. It is a really big problem.

The Silver Lining For You

But there is a silver lining here. You can fill this gap by building disruption management skills. It will allow you to not only become valuable in your organization and in the market, it will also allow you to make massive impact on your business. You can help build new foundations for your business that will leave your mark.

So the question is how do you learn about disruption and become an expert in this difficult terrain? The good news is you can start your journey with A sixty minute guide to disruption.

A Sixty-Minute Guide to Disruption

I have packed decades of research on disruption of firms into this small yet powerful guide to disruption.  It will provide big ideas and a strong foundations for you.

You will learn how disuprton is not always caused by disruptive innovation and how disruptive innovations do not always lead to disruption. You will realize the deeper reason why firms fail. And above all, it will help you start thinking about what makes some firms overcome disruptive threats.

So pick up this little book that helps you learn about disruption now. Take it with you on your next train or plane ride and start your journey to mastering disruption. You will keep coming back to it.
